Semi Strikes Cows On Highway 14

A semi driven by Gene Heithoff struck a herd of cattle, killing six head north of Neligh early Wednesday morning. 

A semi struck a herd of cattle early Wednesday morning north of Neligh on Highway 14, according to law enforcement.

Gene Heithoff of Oakdale was northbound in a semi on Highway 14 when he struck a herd that was on the highway, killing six head, according to the Antelope County Sheriff's Department. According to law enforcement, the cattle were owned by Corey Curtis.

The accident occurred around 4:30 a.m. north of 858 Road and Highway 14. Heithoff was not injured in the accident. The number of cattle on the highway at the time of the accident has not been released.

The Antelope County Sheriff's Department and Nebraska State Patrol responded to the accident. The highway was closed until about 9 a.m.
