The 2019 Neligh-Oakdale homecoming candidates and court have been announced. Coronation will be Friday, Sept. 13, after the football game against West Holt.
Candidates for king are Hunter Charf, Kaleb Pofahl and Cameron Wiseman and queen candidates are Emma Bixler, Adysen Boggs and Hannah Schrader.
Members of the court are second-grade crown bearers Benson Metschke and Kendyll Allemang; freshman attendants Aiden Kuester and Lynae Koinzan; sophomore attendants Riley Martensen and Thomas Johnson; and junior attendants Caleb Payne and Aleesha Bergman.
Homecoming festivities will kick off with a cornhole tournament for teams of two on Sunday for students in grades 7-12. The cornhole tournament is set to begin at 3 p.m. in Neligh’s Riverside Park. N-O Booster Club members are hosting the double-elimination tournament as well as a dunk tank with coaches who are willing to get dunked.
The tournament will be followed by class skits and a bonfire in front of the park grandstand.
Boosters will host the annual spirit breakfast on Monday morning for students in grades 7-12. Dress up days will begin that day too: Monday: Color Day: 7th grade-green; 8th grade-red; 9th grade-yellow; 10th grade-Orange; 11th grade-white; 12th grade-black; and school employees-pink. Tuesday: Hee Haw Day; Wednesday: Patriot Day; Thursday: Squad/pair day and Friday: Maroon/White Day.
The parade, with the theme "Memes," will begin at 1 p.m. Floats will leave the high school and travel down Main Street. Businesses are encouraged to enter a float as well.
