The sweet sound of motorcycles reverberated down Neligh’s Main Street, Thursday, May 30, as 19 members of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce made a pit stop for lunch at Sly’s Family Bar and Grill.
For 20 years, a group of chamber members travel via motorcycle to a selected destination “to look at new economic development ideas,” said Fremont Chamber Executive Director Tara Lea.
After meeting at Butler Ag Equipment, in Fremont, Thursday morning, the group ventured to Neligh.
Along the way, they pinpoint a spot for lunch.
Sly’s owner Teresa Legate said she received a call from the chamber, inquiring about lunch options.
Lea said Sly’s was chosen “because of its excellent reviews.”
This year’s final landing-place: Valentine.
On Friday, chamber members will tour Radiant Systems, a manufacturing site that produces Comfort Cove radiant heaters.
From Valentine, they’ll progress to Taylor, for lunch, before departing for home.
In the past, members have traveled to Jackson, Minn., Sioux Falls, Okoboji, Iowa and Kearney, visiting businesses and gathering ideas of what may be viable options for the Dodge County city.
The outing brings together businessmen from different professions.
“Some are involved in manufacturing, some are plumbers or electricians, while others are lawyers or business owners,” Lea said. “It’s a nice way to develop connections and camaraderie among members.”
