Ewing Flooding

A flood warning has been issued for Ewing due to the rising level of the Elkhorn River, according to the National Weather Service. 

The NWS upgraded the forecast from minor to moderately severe after runoff from recent rains reached the Elkhorn River. The flooding is expected to persist through the weekend.

As of 7:45 p.m. Thursday, the river was at 7.5 feet. Flood state is 9.0 feet. It is expected to reach 10.0 feet by Saturday evening and not fall below flood stage until early Monday morning. This crest compares to a previous crest of 10.1 fe on May 8, 1960, according to the NWS.

People are warned not to drive vehicles into areas where water covers the roadway. Thew water depth may be too great to allow the vehicle to cross safely, and the road beneath may not be intact. Vehicles caught in the rising waters should be abandoned quickly.
