Elkhorn River Bridge Oakdale

Bank stabilization is set to begin Friday morning at the Elkhorn River bridge between Neligh and Oakdale.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation is being proactive Friday in Antelope County and will spend the morning stabilizing the bank of the Highway 275 bridge between Oakdale and Neligh.

According to officials, the Oakdale bridge across the Elkhorn River is not considered in danger and a flood warning has not been issued. Further west, a warning was issued Thursday night near Ewing for the Elkhorn River, which is expected to crest there at 10 feet.

Antelope County Road Superintendent Casey Dittrich said that he, too, is being proactive with the rising river. On Thursday road employees hauled sand to barns in Clearwater and Neligh for sandbagging use — if it is needed, although he said that's not the case at this time.

Dittrich said the county is monitoring the bridge near Clearwater on 516th Ave., but currently no action is being taken.
