Niobrara Valley Conference basketball

A week of non-stop Niobrara Valley Conference basketball action is scheduled to begin Saturday, Jan. 26.

Opening round games will be played at Bartlett and Ewing, with games scheduled for 11 a.m., 12:45 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:15 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Ewing’s Lady Tigers enter as the number two seed, while the Lady Cyclones enter in the 11 spot. The Lady Warriors sit as the 10-seed.

The Cyclones boys basketball team is the fifth seed, while the Tigers from Ewing are the 13th seed.The Warriors start the tourney as the sixth seed.

Saturday games in Ewing

At 11 a.m., Jim Schutt and his blaze of Cyclones will face Santee.

Following that contest, the OC girls team will meet EPPJ in the 12:45 p.m. contest.

At 2:30, the Neligh-Oakdale Warriors and EPPJ Wolpack will tip off.

Boyd County’s Lady Spartans will meet Neligh-Oakdale’s Lady Warriors at 4:15 p.m.

Ewing’s boys team will meet Boyd County in the nightcap, with a 6 p.m. tipoff.

Saturday games in Bartlett

Competition in Bartlett begins with the Stuart girls playing St. Mary’s at 11 a.m.

St. Mary’s and Elkhorn Valley boys teams will meet at 12:45 p.m.

Santee girls will meet the Elkhorn Valley Lady Falcons at 2:30 p.m., followed by the West Holt girls game against Niobrara/Verdigre.

The CWC Renegades boys team will meet Niobrara/Verdigre at 6 p.m.

Monday - boys bracket

On Monday, Jan. 28, the top-seeded West Holt Huskies will take on the winner of the CWC v Niobrara/Verdigre game, at 6:15 p.m., in Atkinson.

At 8 p.m., winners of the Boyd County v Ewing and OC v Santee contests will play at 8 p.m., in Atkinson.

Games on the other side of the bracket will be played in Bassett, beginning at 6:15 p.m.

North Central enters as the number two seed and will meet the winner of the St. Mary’s v Elkhorn Valley contest.

Following that game, the winner of the N-O v EPPJ game will play Stuart, the third seed, at 8 p.m.

Tuesday - girls bracket

The second-seeded Lady Tigers will meet the winner of the Boyd County v N-O game, at 6:15 p.m. in Ewing.

Following that contest, North Central, the third seed, will face the winner of the OC v EPPJ game, at 8 p.m.

Games on the other side of the bracket will be played in Chambers.

The number one seed, CWC Renegades, will meet the winner of the West Holt v Niobrara/Verdigre contest.

The 8 p.m. game will feature winners of the EV v Santee and Stuart v St. Mary’s contests.


Quarterfinal games will be played Thursday, Jan. 31, at Bartlett, with girls games tipping off at 2:45 and 4:30 p.m., followed by boys contests at 6:15 and 8 p.m.


Consolation and championship games will be played Saturday, Feb. 2, at Niobrara.
